Dubstep

Dubstep is a type of genre that uses electronic sounds to create music. The sounds used were familiar to drum and bass sounds. One of the main sounds that Dubstep tracks used was the bass drop. In the track the percussion would stop, then the track would start again but will be much more louder.

The first tracks were made all the way back to the late 1990’s. Dubstep developed upon the years and became better and better by the moment. It even became a beat box rhythm. People all over the world started liking dubstep. One of the most famous Dubstep DJs name was Skrillex. He is my favourite Dubstep DJ.

Netbook Reflection 2012

This year has been a great year, especially with our netbooks. When I first got it I did not know anything about it. But now, I know a lot more about our netbooks. Netbooks have been really helpful with my learning in many ways. But at the same time it makes learning really fun everyday I go onto it. My netbook is a big change to my learning, a really big change.

I think netbooks are better than Pencil and Paper because it makes learning fun. Also its easier to delete mistakes, and if I spell a word wrong it is easier to correct it. It keeps all my work neat and tidy no matter how much I have. There are just too many reasons why netbooks are better. So we are all lucky to have these netbooks, but its not just our school that are lucky, there are six other schools as well.

It sounds like there are no problems with our netbooks right?. But there are some problems, like the hinges of the netbook, they are really weak one of mine has come off but still sits in its place. Also the screen quality is very vulnerable, and has no protection whatsoever. The pages that come up before you login takes time that we really need for our learning.

Overall this year has been a great year with our netbooks. A big thanks to the manaiakalani trust for everything you’ve all gone through to get our netbooks, I really appreciate it. This year has been really fun, I hope next year is even better!

Camp Bentzon

Camp Bentzon Funny Story

It was going to be a big day of activities, we started the day with a run through the bushes. Then came back had some free time and then had breakfast. We had some more free time after that, our first activity of the day came up it was Burma Trail. Burma Trail is where you are blindfolded and follow a rope. You also have a partner to instruct you on the way. It was fun.


Walking back from the Burma Trail we were all having lots of fun, but not that I knew something really awesome was about to come my way. Coming down was slippery because it was spitting rain. When we got to the bottom I saw Antonio behind a tree. “Come Robert” Antonio continued “ Lets hide from Mrs V”. So Me and Antonio Hid behind the tree, but we were found because one of the other kids told. There were lots of bumps on the ground, but I still ran across it. It did not turn out well, I did a barrel roll, Side-flip, Ninja thing. Whoever saw me laughed except for one person. It was Mrs V.

So don’t run over grounds with lots of bumps on it, but if you want to have a go then ,do it.

The Day My Toy Came Alive

A long hot day went past, and a big night sleep came. I tucked myself into bed as the moonlight shone upon me. The moons brighter than usual I thought in my head, but why? Just then I heard something behind my back, I looked and something crawled out of my toy-box. “Who's there?” I shouted in fear.

“I'm Woody,” my toy said. “Buh-Buh But it can’t be, you're a ttt-toy,” I mumbled. “Well, do you know why the moons so bright?” He asked “No,” I said. “Its so bright because you made a wish when you were 5. You wished that you’re toy, that would be me, would come alive someday, and your wish has come true!” He said. “Wow, I can’t believe my eyes,” I replied with a surprising tone. “Lets Play,” he said.

We played lots of things, like video games, his favorite was Toy Story 3. We watched movies, played board games and had lots of fun. We got really hungry so we ordered some pizza, and watched some more movies, the best was Toy Story.

All the fun sadly had to come to an end. “Goodbye my friend,” Woody said. “Will I ever see you again?” I asked with a sad tone. “Five more years and we will meet again. Goodbye!” Woody cried. “See you again in five years!”. So from then on I waited and waited, until that magical night would come again!

Adventure Quest Worlds is one of the most popular online role play game on the world wide web. Unlike the original Adventure Quest AqWorlds is a Online, Multiplayer, Role Play game that is very additive. The developers Artix Entertainment created AQ Worlds, and Artix Entertainment was created by Artix Krieger. It is played by millions of people around the world, including me and some my friends. This game It is a really awesome game to play.

Diary Of A Wimpy Kid

Diary Of A Wimpy Kid is a novel about a boy whose name is Greg Heffley. His goal is to survive middle school. The top selling books were made into movies and watched by millions of people around the world. I was one of them. The series is so cool I loved it, I give it a 9.5/10.

I recommend you read the books before watching the movies to get more detail. But overall its a great movie to watch, and a great book to read. So go to the movies and watch Diary Of A Wimpy Kid: Dog Days. It is Awesome.

The Holidays

Avatar:The Game Ps3

  In the holidays I stayed home and did nothing, it was pretty boring. The thing I did the most was play my Play-Station 3 and watch TV. So it wasn't that boring.  

On my Play-Station played Avatar in the holidays its kind of cool, at one point it lets you pick if you are going to fight for the Na'vi (The Big Blue People) or the Humans. I chose to be a Na'vi, its annoying because the humans are hard to see and there are too many of them in battle.

I also played Infamous, in Infamous you play Cole MacGrath he survived a big explosion. From that explosion he gains powers, and over the years he learns more and more about them. You can choose to be bad or good.

My cousins came over and made a big mess in my room, and annoyed me all day long. So that day was so frustrating. But in the end the holidays wasn't that boring. I had lots of fun during the holidays, I hope you did or do.              

The Holidays (so far)

So far the holidays have been boring, I might be going to the movies next week tuesday but I CANT WAIT THAT LONG!And the worst thing that has happend...Daylight savings, it has taken 1 hour off our sleep!! All I have done in the holidays so far is play my playstation 3 half the day so I'm pretty tired right now so I'm going to end the story, so thanks for reading.

Usain Bolt

Usain St. Leo Bolt aka Lightning Bolt is a jamaican sprinter that holds the record for being the fastest person in the world. He also is the first man ever to hold both the 100 metre sprint and 200 metre sprint world record. Usain Bolt is 26 and was born on the 21st August 1986, he was born in Trelawny, Jamaica. Did you know that he has NEVER won a bronze medal at any of his races, only Golds and Silvers.

Usain Bolt lives in Kingston, Jamaica but was born and raised in Trelawny, Jamaica. Trelawny was named after a man named William Trelawny, he was a member of the Parliament who eventually became The governor of Jamaica. He then died 1772 December that's when it was named Trelawny.

Bolt competes in Track and Field, it is held right in the middle of the stadium. It has a whole bunch of running, throwing, and jumping sports like, Sprint, Middle Distance, Long Distance, Hurdles, Relays, Shot-Put, Long Jump and more. There are even mixed events that are called Pentathlon, Heptathlon, and decathlon. But they have to race their own gender.

He is my favorite athlete because he is so successful in his career and never gives up. He always tries his best in everything he does. He is a true inspirational hero to lots of people all over the world, including me. Good luck usain bolt in all of your races.

      

Valerie Adams Wins Gold

Did you hear about the recent Olympic news, our New Zealand shot-putter Valerie Adams does not have her silver medal anymore. She now has gold medal, Why does she have a gold medal now you ask?. It turns out that Valerie’s rival Belarusian Nadzeya Ostapchuk like all the other athletes was drug tested, but her test came out positive.

So its a very great day for Valerie and a bad one for Nadzeya. I think all the pressure from almost not being in the Olympics and not having a very nice room to sleep in during the Olympics stopped her from getting gold straight away. My reason for thinking that is because because she was doing way better in her practice's before she heard the bad news. But anyway good job Valerie, you've made your country very proud.

Immersion Assembly

On a cold winter day, school started again. It is term three, and our topic is ‘Go For Gold’. Every time a new term starts, we have an Immersion Assembly. Go For Gold, is mostly about the Olympics, and the most famous people that attended it. Immersion Assembly’s show movies, Or Acting about what will happen this term. I think this term is going to be awesome.

As we strolled into the hall the cold air hit me and then I was freezing. We sat down and watched movies, the first movie was team 1’s. It was about two Olympic legends, they were Yvonne Williams, And Dick Quax. Mrs George interviewed them at their houses. It had lots of talking in it, the cool thing was Mrs George wore Dick Quax silver medal.


Team 2 had a movie playing about the three keys to be an Olympian. The three keys were practice, practice, practice. When I look around everyone looked bored. I kind of got what their example for us were. Practice, practice, practice makes us perfect. Is what I thought their example was.

This is my progress for Study Ladder, Maths Whizz, and Xtramath for week 8.

Swimming

I could not wait for this moment, this moment was when we went swimming.  We are swimming at the Glen Innes aquatics center. I could not wait to swim, so I rushed getting changed and speed walked to the benches by the pool. First we had to see what groups we were in.

So we swam normally in pairs, me and my friend Neo were swimming, I was in group number one and he was in group 2. There are three groups, one and two were in the small pool and group three were in the deeper pool.

Art Alive

Art is so cool! There are loads of art types like 3d Sidewalk Art, which is my favorite type of art, Sculpture Art, Spray Paint Art, Or even normal painting. I like 3D sidewalk art because it looks so real. Some are even scary because you look like you'll fall in it! I wonder how long it takes to paint these amazing art works? It must take hours of work. I want to make a 3D sidewalk art when I grow up, it is awesome!

Holidays

In the holidays I mostly stayed home watching movies, playing games and other things like that. My favorite thing was watching movies. I watched a lot of movies like Despicable me, Megamind and Eighty Days Around the World. My favorite movie was Megamind, I watched it over and over again.
My favourite character was Minion. Minion is a fish that Megamind’s parents gave him before they sent him to Earth. They sent him to Earth because his planet had been sucked up by a black hole. There was also another planet that got sucked up by the black hole and they sent their baby. But that baby turned out to be a superhero!

Captain Krabby Patties

"Arrrr me harty!!!” I am Captain Krabby Patties, I Love burgers especially the ones Spongebob Squarepants makes. He named it after me ‘Krabby Patties’. My favourite basketball team is the Toronto Raptors they are AWESOME!!. I have hundreds of men working for me. I’m about to sail the sixth sea. I have a beard, a little mustache, my hair is a little bit long, and my ship is really big. My arch enemy, Captain NoSwagg has tried to attack my ship millions of times, with his evil sidekick Lieutenant underpants. We have had over one hundred battles, and I have won most of them. My ship is the best because I have lots of new things, it's like a speedboat but bigger, it has lots of food on board, and much more like computers. It also runs on diesel so I have to fill it up before we leave.

“Lets head out” I shouted to my scallywags, ‘2 year later’ we were sailing through the seventh sea, something hit the boat. I told one of my men to see what it was,”AHHH, Its a giant Octopus” He screamed. “Nothing to worry about” I said, as I drew out my flaming sword, as I walked to look down, boom the octopus hit my ship again. So I just sped in my boat like the fastest car in the world, Just before we got to the island our boat ran out of diesel, so we had to swim away to the island. Swimming to the island I heard something splashing behind, I turned around and the octopus was back so we swam as fast as we could.

‘15 minutes later’ Finally we got to the island, “X marks the spot” I said. We searched and searched but couldn’t find anything. “Let's sleep here scallywags” I shouted to my men. Waking up to birds to screeching, we walked back through the forest. “What's that” i said, “We don’t know” my men said when we started walking, a bull came out charging to us as we ran the bull suddenly disappeared. “There!!” One of my men yelled. As we dug up the spot I found.... Nothing. “Nooooo” I shouted, my men had a look on google maps, “Were on the wrong island” my men continued “Its over there”.

Dr Ben Carson

Dr. Benjamin Carson he is a very famous man, his family was very poor when he was little. He also had a anger problem, so he would get very angry at the littlest things. One time he got so angry that he was going to hit his mom with a hammer, luckily his brother took it off him before it hit her. “How do I know this?”

I know this because he talked to us about it at TelstraClear Event Centre. He was very inspiring, he taught Me too follow My dreams, make the right choices and never give up. He also knows allot of things about the human body, he told us the brain does lots of things in one go just too put your arm up. I think lots of people are inspired by him.

Dr. Ben Carson is famous for knowing how to split Siamese twins. Siamese twins are two people that are joined by the back of their heads, so that means they're facing in the opposite direction. I feel really sorry for them thankfully, Dr Ben Carson operated on the twins 70 people had to be in a small room. The operation took 22 hours WOW!!!

Cars

I like cars, there are millions of cars in the world, my favorite car is a Nissan Skyline. I really like the Nissan Skyline from a movie called 2 Fast 2 Furious. I also like Mitsubishi Evolution iv, and a Dodge Charger.

Did you know that there are more than one type of racing. There are drag racing, that is when you a have too use Manuel. Manuel is when you have too shift the gears manually. Drifting, that is when at each corner you have too pull the handbrake and turn of course. There are two more, they are called sprint and circuit, circuit is when you do more than one lap and sprint is when you only do one lap.

My name is Robert, I am 10 years old, I was born on November 17 2001. I am a Samoan, but I was born in New Zealand. My skin color is light brown, and my hair color is black. My eyes are dark brown.

My hobbies are playing sports and other games outside, playing video games, and reading. My favorite programme's are Dragon Ball Z, and Avatar The Last Air Bender.

My favorite subjects at school are writing, sports, and reading. My least favorite subject is maths. My friends that I play with at school are, Levi, Rocky, Jabez, Neo, Uili, and shayne. My favorite thing too do at school is play with my friends.

Skate boarding, even though I don't know how too, I still like it. My favorite skate border is, Tony Hawk. Ever since I was 5 I have had his video games, watched videos of him skate boarding at the x games and some other places. He is my hero.

Singers I like too listen too are Cali Swag District, and Chris Brown. I also like video games, my favorite games too play are all of the Halo's, all of the Need for speed's, and all of the games. Movie's that I like watching are, MegaMind, Rio, and Avatar.
